The Blogs That Get it, Get it, and the Blogs That Don't, Don't!
Home page:
Some blogs are multifaceted, featuring many different pages and forms that users can explore. Others are for specific uses and just have one stream of information. Both blogs are valid, but the former requires a clean instruction-based landing page that directs users on how to use the site.
Visual Elements:
As always, visuals sell! The NYPL snow blog is photo-based and creates a stunning platform to connect with history. These clear images ignite the imagination, and the citations give context to the images. Another NYPL blog that doesn't do this as successfully is an instructional blog on how to use Pixton to create comics. While I enjoyed the bright colors initially, I found it difficult to read the comics, which misses the point of the blog. Reminds me to always keep formatting in mind!
